What's on King St this August

3 Aug 2021

On King St this month, there's plenty to eat, experience and explore!

King Street Book Club  |  artisan  |  Tuesday 17 August

Our monthly book club is welcoming author Krissy Kneen for an intimate discussion of her book, The Three Burials of Lotty Kneen, on Tuesday 17 August at artisan. As well as the discussion, book club members will enjoy a glass of wine and nibbles from Il Verde. Learn more and register for August's book club here.

Exhibitions, Workshops  |  artisan  |  Throughout August and September

With the Tamworth Textile Triennial continuing to be displayed at artisan until 4 September, there's plenty of time to see this unique collection of textile works from artists across the country. If you feel like getting hands-on, August workshops (subject to COVID restrictions) include woodcut printing on Tuesday 10, spoon carving on Thursday 12, sashiko and boro stitching (upcycled bags) on Saturday 14, lacemaking on Saturday 21, ceramic earrings on Tuesday 24, wax-cast silver rings on Thursday 26, and punch needling on Tuesday 31.

Two beautiful silver rings that you can make at an artisan workshop.

Spring Market  |  artisan  | Saturday 4 September

But if you're not so inspired and would rather just purchase some beautiful hand-crafted items or gifts, then the Spring Market is just for you. Scheduled for Saturday 4 September, it's free - all you need to do is reserve your spot here

Trivia and Jazz  |  Space & Co.  | Various Dates

Grab your mates and head down to Space & Co. Wednesday night from 7pm and test your knowledge on random facts with their new trivia night! The perfect excuse to grab some food, a couple of drinks and battle for bragging rights on being the smartest in the room!

If competition is not your vibe, then head down on Thursday nights for jazz sounds from the students of the Jazz Music Institute. Friday and Saturdays nights will always have live music to accompany some great food and amazing cocktails.

Live Music  |  The Tivoli  |  Various Dates

As always, there's a jam-packed program of live entertainment at The Tivoli coming up! As well as the guaranteed nostalgia of Friends! The Musical Parody (running 18 August - 27 August), there'll be live music from Young Franco, Alpha Wolf, Connan Mockasin, and Big Scary, as well as a huge range of comedy acts.
